If I'm not mistaken, the fuel is supplied to the teams for free. Marty's right. This is obviously a satirical spoof of racing written by a non-fan. Pretty nasty, actually. |

I remember races being shortened in the early 70's when there was a gasoline shortage but never as a cost cutting measure due to the price. If I'm not mistaken, the fuel is supplied to the teams for free. |

It didn't make any meaningful difference to the amount of fuel used in a race weekend, let alone the amount used by fans getting to the track. John |

1974, if I'm not mistaken. The races were shortened by 10%. It was done as a gesture of support or sympathy to people affected by that era's gas shortage, i.e. it was just a publicity deal. It didn't make any meaningful difference to the amount of fuel used in a race weekend, let alone the amount used by fans getting to the track. |
