A long time ago, I used to turn on the radio for sound and
turn down Howard Cosell's commentary on Monday Night Football.
It worked moderately well, though there was a slight lag
in the radio coverage.

The announcers don't bother me, but I imagine that if
they did, I could figure out a way to get MRN or PRN
up on the computer so I could douse the sound. Someone
else did something like that this weekend. I might have
to pay for the coverage, but I doubt a whole season's
ticket would come anywhere near the expense of going
to one race.

Hi Earl :-)

Just a quick word on policy - while the moderators welcome
meaningful discussion of the commentators strengths and
weaknesses, repetatively posting the same complaint during
a telecast is not likely to be viewed favorably here.

confused .. felt sorry for him ..
the truth is he doesnt belong there....
Jarrett did better in the later stages of the race. When he's
got something worthwhile on track to talk about, he does well.
When he feels like he has to fill time, then he gets into the
hesitations and "ums" and "ers" that make it hard to listen to.

and the other 2 ? same...
Petree's not bad when he sticks to his strength, which is the
crew chief perspective. It was neat to hear him say "drivers
complain that the tires feel like basketballs", and then a
few minutes later Kahne's radio "my tires feel like they've
got too much air in them".

But I'll grant you that both of them could benefit by being
silent when they don't have something to say.
