This is good?
Somebody else that picks righ 95% of the time 5 times a week all
year, loses
to your 1 pick.

On paper, yes.

In reality, no.

Scorn will rain down from the summit of Moral Victory Mountain
like hot ash from St. Helen's if anyone tries to steal the
trophy by batting 1.000 with one good pick. :-O

So do we need to put this to a vote or what?
I think we can do it informally.

If most people say, "I can live with the rules,"
then it's game on.

I have the impression that most people have
said that the proposed rules are more or less
OK.

I, of course, am a little hard of hearing when
someone says, "I don't like your rules." :-O

Different ISP?

Different news reader?

Bad karma?

No offense to either of you, but I think you're both heading in
completely the wrong direction. The RPG basically failed at the
end of this season, because no-one wanted to play (Jeanne & I
excepted).

That's not entirely true. I wanted to play, but didn't have time.
Which was also the case, I beleive, for WW, Marty, and Russ. Problem
was, there weren't folk who did have time to compensate.

I'm not sure why that is - we started out the year with a dozen or
so players. I know a couple dropped out due to persistent mod-group
issues with their ISP, but I don't know why the others quit. I
suspect part of the reason was it's hard to think of 5, 6, or 7
predictions each week. That's why I'm in favor of a system that
allows fewer, hoping that it'll draw some guys with 1 or 2 ideas
each week.

I hope the simpler system will be more fun, too.

I've done a short form of the rules:

No one has to read the long form if they don't want to.

Well, I for one promise to hop in next year, whatever the rules are, and not
worry about whether I'm getting them right, but trusting y'all to straighten
me out if/when I screw it up, which I'm sure I will for a few weeks.

Iffen y'all are willing to deal with that, I'm willing to hop out there with
predictions....

"Straightening people out" is part of the game.

Also "dancing on their heads," "mocking them mercilessly," and
offering them "constructive criticism."

RPG is a full-contact sport. ;o)

No problem.

I added two new rules in the fine print last night:

- No one has to read the fine print if they don't want to.

- Anyone who wishes may used an abridged set of the rules to play their
own version of the RPG game. All is fair in love and RPG, so long as
people make it clear that they are using a subset of the rules.

HUH?!?!...'abridged'??...'subset'?? Whaaaa?

Only using left-handed drivers?

Only using cars with the letter "b" in the sponsors' name(s)?

Only competing against RPGers west of the Mississippi?

I respectfully suggest the KISS principle be applied vigorously to RPG.

Not if you're really a KISS person (Keep It Super-Simple). :-P

It's up to you. You are the boss over the version of
the game you play.

Quote:

Here are the KISS rules:

* Make zero (0) to five (5) ordinary prediction about the race.
* Each correct ordinary prediction earns 1 point.
* You may also choose the race winner in addition to up to five (5) ordinary predictions.
* Picking the race winner correctly earns 3 points.
* Score your own predictions.
* Keep track of your own score.
* Boast as much as you dare about your pickin' prowess.

For folks who like to play "Yeah, but what if ..." games,
there are 22 rules (so far) in the fine print:

http://moleski.net/dokuwiki/doku.php/rasnm/rpg

(Rule 17: Arguing about the rules is part of the game.)

I been argueing for that, too, but the weight of opinion seems
to be against me :-)
