Default RPG Phoenix (Chase IX) TomS - 11-14-2009 , 10:44 PM

Been a little down with a bug the last few days... Not the flu; just
the DC Crud.. We seem to get a new strain of it in this area every
year. You're sick enough to feel like crud, but not sick enough to
miss work. Low grade fever, muscle/joint aches and associated
feel-bad accompaniments. Fortunately this year's did not feature
diarrhea as an accompaniment..... ((^:
On to the race.

Winner: I think it may be a tossup between Jr and the Da Kid, but I
am going to go along with pig and say Mark Martin will take the
checkers. Except I can't call him the Old Fart, 'cause I'm older than
he is..

1. Juan Montoya is going to be busting in the top 10 again.

2. Mikey is rattling his saber in this his penultimate regular race,
but it will only get him into the second 10.

3. Marcos isn't through making noise for this year and will finish in
the top 10.

4. Jamie Mac didn't qualify worth anything, but was good in practice.
He'll finish in the second 10 with Mikey.

5. David Reutimann was the bright spot in the MWR stable early in the
season. He'll shine again as a top 10 finisher.

First Segment points - + 20
Second Segment points - + 30
Chase points going in - + 17
Points in this race - + 3
Chase points leaving - + 20

That actually fits the symptoms of a mild case of the swine flu
exactly. If so, you're fortunate, you're now immune without any
bad effects.

Seems like a fair assessment - Waltrip never runs well here, but he
also rarely fails to finish, so with a dozen start-n-parkers and
wrecked cars behind him he should get into the 20s. I predict he'll
also lead a lap under caution, and get in the way of the leader at
some critical (and TV-focused) point.

The track seems to suit both their styles, so you've got a shot at
these two. But I'd be real surprised if you get both.

Incidently, this is the first time in my recollection that Waltrip
has outqualified both his team cars.

That's sort of what I figured and a little "racing luck", etc. should
put him in the teens where I am predicting. I should have specified,
I guess. I consider the second 10 to be 11 through 20.

I hadn't thought about it, but I believe you are right on there.

Whoops, my bad. I read what you wrote but saw what I expected
instead.

So we can have a mini-RPG challenge: you say 11 - 20, and I say
he'll finish 20 - 29. Let's see if he can hit 20 exactly, and
leave us in a tie :-)

Well, didn't made any difference what we call him, he didn't win.

+1 8th position. I look forward to next year and them turning him
loose a little earlier in the season.

+0 I'll have to check the lap-by-lap to see what happened, but John
and I both lost on this one as Mikey finishes in 36th.
Quote:
3. Marcos isn't through making noise for this year and will finish in

+0 Almost. He was in the top 10 with 30 laps to go, but slipped back
to 11th, by the checkers.

+1 19th position for Jamie Mac.

+1 You win some you lose some - points that is. David is the one who
pushed Marcos back to 11th.

First Segment points - + 20
Second Segment points - + 30

Chase points leaving - + 23

Standard NASCAR script: bogus debris caution, field gets stacked
up on the restart, someone spins, half-a-dozen other cars get
caught up in the wreckage. Mikey was tail-end of the field and
ran into one of the spun cars, shortening his Toyota considerably.

In an interview later, he said his power steering had failed, and
he was unable to swerve to avoid the wreck. (one might wonder if
the brakes had also failed, as he came in fairly quick all things
considered).
