I don't think it would be out of place for you to share
a few of the details. We're all friends here, more or

Well, we had a reservation at Meramec State Park for a long weekend.
Meramec SP is on the banks of the Meramec River, a normally placid stream.
Momma had some vacation time to burn so we decided to take the RV up on
Thursday. I work in a nearby town so I took the RV to work with me with the
intent of taking it to the campground on my lunch hour. We had heavy rain
forecast for the weekend and a flash flood advisory was issued. On
Wednesday night after work I hooked the RV up to the truck and just as I got
done, the skies opened up. It rained all Wednesday nite and Thursday
morning. Knowing the propensity for flooding at the campground I called the
Ranger station before leaving at lunch and they said that everything was
still OK. I left with the RV around 1:00pm and headed to the campground.
There were about 10 other campers there and the river still looked nice and
low and clear. At 4:30p Momma called and said that the State Park called
and said that they were closing the park and evacuating the campground due
to imminent flooding. I called the Ranger and he said that the campground
was forecast to flood and that I should come and get my RV pronto. I left
work and headed down to the park. The once placid river was now a roiling
brown torrent! The Ranger met me at the RV and said that if we wanted to
stay, there was one campsite on the hill near the showerhouse that we could
use. Since the weekend was planned, I called Momma and told her to c'mon
down. I moved the RV to the high ground and she met me there. We had a
nice relaxing weekend reading books in the RV since the weather was too
nasty to do much else. Since there wasn't much to do, we came home early
this am. We walked down to the base of the hill and looked at our former
campsite that was now under three feet of water. All in all, a nice trip
but not what we intended. We are old hands at evacuating flooded
campgrounds however as we have been chased from our campsites in three
states.... do ya' think the Lord may be sendin' me a message?
;^)
