Wondered about RCR's resurgence last year and the Hendrick lock this year?

Per Mulhern at

Jack Roush said he's just ordered the latest piece of high-dollar racing
technology, a seven-post shaker rig, a computerized machine that a race car can be
mounted on, which uses large hydraulic pistons to mimic the bumps and lumps of a
500-mile race. Richard Childress has had one for several years; Rick Hendrick just
installed one himself, and Jeff Gordon said that exotic piece of equipment has
been key to the team's dominance.

"We've got a seven-post rig test machine now in our facility," Gordon said. "Last
year was about getting it put in and then trying to figure out how to utilize the
information that we get from it. Now it's really starting to pay off for us.

"And if you look at Childress' success, I would say that is one of the main
reasons they've stepped up so much over the last year, because they were one of
the first teams to have one."

Yes, I have.

If they're talking about it in the press, it can't
be THE latest and greatest. Whatever is on the
bleeding edge is still secret, I bet.
