Did anyone see the rather obscure news item re: Chrysler and NASCAR? Seems that Chrysler Corp. had a vote(decision) scheduled on this past Monday (the first day of the new Group) whether to continue to fund the NASCAR racing effort. I don't know if they had the vote, or not, there is no info regarding it. It seems a bit queer to me that with the future of MOPAR hanging by a thread, Kurt should, driving a Dodge, win rather handily on the Sunday before the critical vote on Monday. I also harken back to the popular win by Harvick within days after Earnhardt Sr's death. That was a Hollywood ending and at the time very controversial. I seem to remember that this is the only win for Dodge this season, is it not? How timely! Also, notice, incidentally, that Bush and Earnhardt are scrambling for the 12th spot in the "playoff". Since there seems to be no other hotly contested position in the top 12, would it not seem strange that the only excitement would be the first and second place cars? This is too, too, coincidental for my taste. Maybe Stewart was right, if the WWE is killed by steroids, then NASCAR can step up and take its place in fantasy land for us Good Ole Boys. |
