Default Adding Excitement to the Races - 08-24-2009 , 04:13 PM

Hello

Switch to bias-ply tire and encourage Morgan Shepard Richard Petty
Darrell Waltrip Bill EIlliot and any other older retired drivers to
run a few races I bet they could beat the pants off some of the "Young
Guns" of the series.

Dave

p.s

Of course we know it will never happen at least not in a points race.
Though it might be fun for an exhibition race

How about running real stock cars on dirt once in a while, like they did
when Richard Petty was winning everything. Daytona one weekend, then a
dirt fairgrounds the next. Those were the days. Can't imagine how the
current crop of "Corporate Pretty Boy Racers" would handle a race like that!

I'm not following this.
If the current crop of top racers, had come up running both
dirt and pavement, I think they would be as competitive
as your old heroes were...
The ones that did come up on dirt, would be just as likely
to have run with, or beat Petty, as anyone.
Petty wasn't a better talent than say Stewart, Gordon, or Edwards.
and the fact that most of the guys running today ran pavement,
does not mean that they couldn't have run dirt.

Hmmm, I'm guessing you haven't seen the Prelude to the Dream, then.
Even Montoya seemed to have a decent handle on that one.
