Default Another fan rip-off - 08-02-2009 , 05:21 PM

Another cup race moved to Monday, another rip-off of the fans by NASCRAP. If
they won't schedule the damn cup races for Saturday then they ought to
cancel if the race can't be run as scheduled on Sunday. Most of the fans
aren't rich like Helton and France Light and can't afford to take a day off
just to see a race. And of course there are no tickets refunds for a
rescheduling the race to an inconvenient day like Monday. If they want to
know why attendance is dropping every year this is one of the reasons. Most
of the fans have to work tomorrow and will have to shove their $100 tickets
where the sun don't shine.

Most outdoors sports are subject to weather delays no matter what the ticket
cost.

The teevee will still work at 9:15AM Monday. If people want to see the
race, they will see it.

When the ground is so soaked that the hydraulic pressure is pushing water up
through the seams in the track there is no chance that the race is going to
be run that day.

The track workers can use quick setting hydraulic cement to patch a seam but
at an old track like Pocono another one will just open up. It is not an
engineering problem, it is a weather problem.

But at 9:15AM Monday they should be off to the races.

And if you can't figure out that an outdoor event is subject to the
possibility of rain, then your brain is not functioning. Cry about Monday
all you want, but the world does not turn around making everything
convenient for you. Monday is what it's been since the beginning and that
should come as no surprise to you. It's a bigger enterprise than your world
seems capable of understanding, and both tracks, NASCAR and teams don't have
the ability to simply switch dates to some Saturday that is convenient for
you, just because you elect to be pig-headed. Get over it.

That's the point I was trying to make Einstein. Move the Nationwide race to
Friday night and the cup race to Saturday. If there is a rain delay on
Saturday there is a chance to re-schedule the race to Sunday when fans can
actually attend. You must be one of those close minded morons who can't
contemplate change - things have to be the way they've always been because
that's the only thing you can understand.

the biggest problem that many are not even thinking about is the folks that
may work on saturday... NASCAR's target audience is very much likely to pull
saturdays occassionaly or reguarly... no matter how you try to make it
better for your schedule, a rain out will affect fans whether the scheduled
even is on saturday, sunday, or even wednesday... travel plans, lodging
plans, etc are usually centered around the event itself, not the day after..
