hehe, where do we sign up - surely there is something "a group of
fans" can come up with some nutty case to file ;-)

(pssst, I'm likely to be OK with an out of court settlement for a few mil, in
case you're wondering)

Thank God someone still likes the South. I personally don't think
Bruton
Smith likes any part of the South that he doesn't own or otherwise
control...

Bruton is only playing by Nascar's rules. If you lament the loss of race
dates at any tracks, Nascar is ultimately to blame.

On paper, what you say looks correct, but it isn't IMO. NASCAR complained
about Rockingham's lagging ticket sales for years after building the
seating
capacity up, but did nothing about it but complain. Nothing that is, until
Bruton got his "shareholders" to file suit for a second Texas date...I
can't
see how NASCAR playing the role of appeaser can implicate them fully in
the
loss of both of NCS's race dates...not when it was Bruton pushing for its
closure so he could then have at least the second date for Texas that he
wanted.
ISC sold Rockingham to Bruton as part of a settlement. He had to buy thre
track to get the second date that Nascar had promised to him. He wanted the
2nd date. Nascar set the terms. Buy The Rock, and pull the date from there.

Quote:
That's ok, they're going to appease themselves soon, and pull a
Martinsville
date to go to whichever track they can get the tax payers to build for
them
next (Washington or New york). If those don't pass quickly enough, they'll
eventually yank one to give to Kentucky to "settle" that lawsuit. Jesse
Jackson long ago exposed NASCAR to the world as the appeasement camp that
they are, and now people are just lining up to get "theirs" from them
while
the getting is good IMO. Perko was first at bat, Kentucky is on deck the
way
I see it. So blaming NASCAR entirely, to me, is often putting the cart
before the horse. They do what they do based on whose suing them that week
and for what.

I don't think KY speedway will win their suit or get a settlement. I just
don't think Nascar wants to give in to them. I do think that Martinsville
will eventually lose both its dates to new tracks.

Martinsville is safe for a while I'd bet for at least one date
with ISC having majority stake in it now. I doubt that they would
be doing all that work there, moving the railroad, and all the
new seats. Hell, Marty will hold 100k before too long.

Martinsville's Fall date needs to remain on the schedule IMO. It's a great
test for the top 10, since it falls within that "Chase" thingie they dreamt
up down there in Daytona. I figure when it comes time to peel a date off of
Marty, for settlement or realignment, it'll be the Spring date.

If Fontana can't sell out it's seats as Big Brian thought they would,
they should give up a race date...or at least go to a Saturday NIGHT
race to pull in the East Coast market. That way we don't have to wait
all day waiting on a Sunday race to start.

If ANY track needs to give up race dates, its Louden. Boring flat track
that was only interesting when the repaved it.

I couldn't agree more, but ISC doesn't own it. It'll likely keep both dates
for some time sadly.

If you want it exciting, just use the road course there.
