Default Best single NASCAR race ever - 05-11-2007 , 09:00 PM

There was this race at Talladega where Dale Earnhardt was about seventeenth
with four laps to go and then he got up on the wheel and passed all of them
boys and won the race. That may not be as dramatic as cars going over the
finish line upside down and backwards and fistfights afterwards but it is
the best example of why Dale Earnhardt is the best who ever was and the best
there ever will be.

The 2003 Carolina Dodge Dealers 400 is the best there has ever been.
No debris yellows, no green white checkers, no restrictor plates, no
fistfights in turn 3, just two guys driving the daylights out of their
cars, beating and banging out of turn 4 to the line. That's what
racing is all about.

1980 World 600 at Charlotte, best two-car battle for the win in the history
of NASCAR between Benny Parsons and D.W., the last part of that race was
absolute war like I'd never seen before or have seen since, it was probably
Benny's best day as a race driver in his whole career and he ended up
winning by half a car length. I know when it comes to 2-car duels, everybody
thinks of Petty/Pearson at Daytona in '76, but IMHO the wreck is what makes
that such a big deal. The Parsons-Waltrip duel was absolute war, as I said,
but they didn't come close to wrecking each other, it was just pure
back-and-forth racing competition, as good as it gets.

That's crap compared to Bill Elliott making up TWO laps UNDER GREEN at
Talladega...and then WINNING THE RACE. E could never ever do that even on
his best day.
Especially since all of Dales cars were FULL size. : )

That's because on his best day, he wouldn't get two laps down.

If two laps down is your best day, it's time to hang it up.

I agree. Kyle Petty doesn't.

The best single race I ever saw was at Michigan, when Dale Jarrett and
Davey Allison traded paint for the last 2 laps, and Dale got his first ever
NASCAR win. Ned Jarrett completely lost his neutrality in the booth, and
began coaching his son over the air on national TV. It was priceless.
