Default Bobby Ginn ? - 05-13-2007 , 10:10 PM

What are his chances of signing Jr. ?
He seems to be doing pretty good for Martin,Marlin and Nemecheck.
Doesn't seem to be a money shortage
or a willingness to spend it,if needed.

Junior driving for Ginn would be a good move. But Junior's destiny is to drive
the red #3 Budweiser car.

Jr doesn't have a destiny like that. He doesn't want to drive the #3 until
he gets a championship or two of his own.

Give the guy a break.

Junior doesn't want to stay in his dad's shadow without ever breaking
out on his own. I don't blame him. And Bud might not go with him ...
we'll have to wait for breaking news.

I can't wait to see the rain of Visa cards onto the race track whenever
Gordon wins.

IF DEJ wants to be the big fish in a small pond (so far),
and develop his ownership of JRMS,
and is willing to be daring (like leaving DEI),
THEN he will accept Bobby Ginn's offer of a condo anywhere,
and the potential to become 1 of The Big 4 Chevy teams.
I think DEJ / Ginn fulfills all that DEJ is looking for.

I just think there is too much money floating around that wants him to drive
the red #3 for RCR. And Budweiser would be crazy not to stay with him, even if
they have to sponsor two cars for awhile. They've done it before.

That would be pretty funny. And then maybe some of the really die-
hard Jr. fans could make race wear out of cards fastened together,
like that AmEx dress at the Academy Awards not so long ago. I note
the last two races, the fans have been pretty well-behaved and not
only that (shocker of all shockers!), there was some actual cheering
for JG during RaceDay AND after the race ended. ;-)

A lot of teams do, IF Junior would look outside of the Chevy camp...I
especially like what Ray Evernham had to say: "I have LOTS of red
paint and want to win some championships too." lol

Purely IMHO: I don't think Ginn is such a great fit. Yes, they run
Hendrick cars and engines. BUT, they run Hendrick cars and engines.
Translation: Ginn is seemingly locked into using Hendrick equipment
and is therefore cornered into second-hand technology. *I think*
Junior wants to go somewhere that is more capable of producing their
own technology, so they never have to ask or even wonder "Is Hendrick
giving us their best? Or their second tier/also-ran stuff?" Maybe
their "also-ran" stuff can beat DEI, RCR, and on good days maybe even
JGR, but I can promise you, that you won't beat HMS too much while
you're driving *their* equipment. Yes, Ginn's deal is going well this
year, but last I checked, 2 HMS cars were 1-2 in the points...

My take: He lands in JGR with Visa as his primary sponsor, in a 4th
car or in the 18 with JJ moving to the 4th car. OR, he lands at RCR in
a 4th car (and hopefully NOT the #3) with Visa if Jack Daniels is
upset at having A-B in the same camp, or Bud if they're amenable to
sharing the booze with a beer, with Visa left trying to find a way
onto the car that he ends up in. Either way, I'll support him through
his move. I'll only dis-own him if he lands with Roush, tho I reserve
the right to throw TP at him if he ends up in any other Ford. ;-) If
he thinks Dodge is the way to go, then so be it. I am a closet Dodge
fan as it is, and now the proud owner of a brand new slightly used '67
Hemi GTX that my parents raced back in the day...Question is, now that
Daimler has sold off Chrysler, will there still be Dodges racing in
NASCAR after this year?

I'd call it "leased technology"...
