link provided by Jayski; http://www.usatoday.com/sports/motor...ty-cover_N.htm Daugherty calls Lester's inability to find a high level of Nextel Cup sponsorship "inexplicable." "He's as qualified as a lot of guys sitting in some of those (Nextel) Cup rides," Daugherty says. "Age might be hurting Bill a little bit, (but) a lot of times owners are scared of taking a chance on sticking a kid, who may wash out, in a Busch or (Nextel) Cup car. Corporate America just isn't ready to take a lot of chances with their dollars on a non-known entity." Lester says he's frustrated at not having been able to land a major sponsor that might enable him to get superior equipment or a place on a Nextel Cup team. "It's a little disappointing that companies, especially those that are Afro-American-owned or -directed, are risk-adverse and don't see that their product could be served in this environment," he says. "Everybody kind of preaches diversity and talks diversity, but when it's time to put up or shut up, most people run with their tail between their legs." Lester can't even cut it the Truck Series and he wants a full time ride in CUP. Brad Dougherty is a joke as well. the drive for diversity what a promotional joke. |

Black people, especially young black people, only pay attention to basketball and football.. It is not at all inexplicable that some guy does not get endorsements or sponsors based on being black if you understand the facts. That Juan Pablo Montoya guy is a good example of diversity. He can actually drive a race car and he has a fan base. Real diversity is a fine thing but artificial forced diversity is just time and effort and money thrown away. The only place that I can think of in the US at this time that still has a race and creed and color line is at some of the older golf clubs or country clubs. Wealthy Republicans are dead set against diversity if it will result in that diversity showing up and the next tee or next table or next tennis court as equals. |

Everyone dies one time. That is one of the few things in life that is absolutely guaranteed. The leading cause of death is heart disease. And then there is stroke, cancer, lung disease, kidney disease, diabetes, a few other diseases, suicide, motor vehicle accidents, home accidents, work accidents, general misadventure such as insect/animal incidents and various forms of trauma that are not home, vehicle, or work related accidents. I cannot track every homicide but I can recall more minority people dragged behind trucks or tied to barbed wire fences than I can recall "white or Caucasian" people being killed for being white. About a decade or so ago there was the woman jogger who was killed in NYC by a gang of urban thugs who said that they were just "wilding". But the fact that she was "white" may have just been incidental to the fact that she was alone. So I do not even know if you can count that one. And some years back there were the "dead German tourists" rental car attacks in Florida but those crimes were based on the idea that car renters have money on hand, not race. Enjoy your racism and paranoia and never mind the facts. |
