Maybe make it lay down on the trunk lid when it goes backwards? |

There was a lot of discussion of that idea years ago, with respect to the spoiler (which had much the same effect, altho the wing might be worse). It was eventually decided not to be a good idea, mostly, as I recall, because a pivoting mount would be weak and risk the spoiler flying off, plus the spoiler's contribution to lift when the car is going backwards was felt to be small. With the wing as currently configured I can't see an easy way of making it fold out of the airflow, even if you ignore the strength or weakness of the mount. John |
