Living in Ohio you have had access to some of the best sprint car racing in
the country.
I don't care for sprint car at all. I did go to some local tracks for stock
car though.

I'd just prefer to do it when it's not 35 degrees out at night.

Actually my son when he lived in Ohio, worked for Nervo Coggin racing...welding
sprint car frames.

Could you see one of our Nascar princes getting back in a car that
just flipped and finish a race? Hell no. NONE of them would/could do
it.

I've seen Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Kasey Khane, and in fact pretty much
all of the sprint car guys do that very thing.

There isn't a true all around race driver left in the series.

I'm looking forward to my move, so I can attend some local track
racing and see / watch back to basic racing, where the drivers really
are talented, can work on their own car, and just want to win.

it.

Just out of curiosity, what is it about sprint car racing that you don't
like? It is one of my favorite forms of racing.

That is something we can all agree on.

Don't really know for sure, why I am that way, but the only racing I like and
watch is stockcar. Never watched the pointy cars either. Just like my
stockcars. Guess it kinda reminds me of high school and the boys souping up
their cars and doing the local cruise thing.

To me, stock car drivers are the best in the world as far as drivers go.
Nascar used to be the best of the best in the world...hence my being drawn to
it. But now, I find I rather enjoy the more amateur racers. The ones that are
hungry, and not coporately tied down.

Could be as well, my husband grew up across the street from Buck Baker :-)
It's like Ralph said in the move "3" They can't put it in you and they can't
take it out of you. That's the way I am about stockcars.

I guess it is a taste thing. While I prefer sprint cars (non-wing over
winged), I also enjoy stock cars.

I have always prefered the local short tracks, by and large because of what
you say. I would have to state that I feel the open wheel guys may be
"better" than those that cut their teeth on stock cars, just because there
is a little more finesse in driving a sprint car, just because of the open
wheels, and the danger of what can happen when wheels touch. I would have
to take exception to the "amateur" label, though. These guys race for
money, while not much, it is a factor.

As I stated, while I prefer open wheel, I do enjoy my stock cars. I have
been crewing on one for the last three years. I have even been known to
turn a wrench on a bomber or two. It's all good.

Since Danbury Racearena was destroyed, I have not been back to a local
short track. Are they still like the old days? Lot's of fun racing,
noise, and powdered sugar coated scones for $1?

Nervo does Mini-sprints and go karts, quarter midgets and such. I'm talking
about sprints with 410 small blocks. I don't see how you can be at the
track and not be excited by those, but that's just me. And I'm not
knocking the minis because they are great also. In fact, I'm going to Ft.
Wayne, IN on the 29th & 30th for midgets, karts and minis at the Coliseum
indoors. I like the competition no matter what kind of vehicles are
involved or which venue.

I worked with the Nickles Brothers for years. Jack of all trades.

Most of the ones I go to, if you haven't been to one since the 1970s, you
wouldn't notice the difference.

Short track operators aren't exactly known for their investments in capital
improvements.

See Speedbowl, Waterford for a perfect example.

Yup. Joonyer will never be more than an average cup driver.

Wrong. Ward Burton is an "average" Cup driver. Johnny Benson is an
"average"
Cup driver. Jeremy Mayfield is an "average" Cup driver.

Joonyer takes it to the garage to make the rest of the race a "test" or
just
gets frustrated...

Frustration can be overcome. Junior will only get better.

Semper Fidelis

No....Joonyer will only get older.

Mikey being able to win in DEI equipment is proof that with proper equipment
any idiot can run up front and an average driver should be able to win races
on an intermittent basis....like Joonyer.

Piss poor anology. Compare Junior's number of wins and the tracks they've
happened on to any other driver's first 4 full seasons in Cup. You'll see how
stupid your statement is.
