@y80g2000hsf.googlegroups.com:

snip

I thought it was Roush-Yates?

That's what Ford calls it, but they come out of the Yates shop
and Doug Yates is the man looking at the pieces if one fails on
raceday, so I call them Yates engines.

John

And what if the Subject were to be re-written "Does DEI use those Yates
engines?" as the news begins to trickle (Sorry, Dick) out about talks
between Yates/DEI or DEI/Ford?!?

Whoa!! Could this die-hard Blue Oval fan end up with Junior as one of my
favs?

Junior will never drive a Ford.
Take that to the bank.

For those who like to indulge in "what if" rumors, a Yates/DEI merger
and Junior never driving a Ford could give a reason for Junior to
leave DEI if contracts don't get completed on his terms....

N.

Didn't Sr drive for Bud Moore at least one season..in a Ford?

"a walking contradiction, partly truth and partly fiction"

'83 & '84

When DEI added the third team for Mikey, DE asked Bud Moore if he would
release the number so DE could use it.

the number 15 was special to DE and that's why DEI refused to release the
number to Mikey when he left DEI.

Once upon a long time ago we used to say Jr would never leave
Chevy. But in 1989 he did. Happened once, it can happen again.

John
And Ford probably wouldn't make him sing in their commercials.
