Default Drought broken while Busch drivers wait - 07-24-2007 , 09:49 PM

And it's still raining at 10 tonight. Rained hard at my end of town all morning
so waited till nearly noon to get to the track. They were running under gray
skies when we got there and started getting lap times.

Hummmm...nobody under 16 flat today, either. Dang hard tahrs. Reut was having
fun...and the scanner chatter heard makes me (kinda) b'leeve DW...he sounds good
with set-up talks with the crew. He explains what the car is (or isn't) doing
clearly *and* makes good suggestions on what/how to fix it!

Never found the freq for the 88 car, but it was fast, too, with Keselowski
driving...keep an eye on this kid.

Boyer and his crew are a delight on the scanner...serious work goin' on but also
lottsa teasing and wisecracks. The Tower had Clint ride in the 'pace van(?!)' to
check the track after the jet dryers did their thing about 3 pm.

Truex did double-duty in the 8 and the 15...8 was quicker, so they loaded it up
after the first rain and ran the 15 till the last rain around 5 ended things.

Newman had two 12s, the one in Kodak livery was quicker but even the primered job
ran down on the apron *all* the time...even in the soon-to-be-infamous T2. Again
today, it looked like sumpin in the middle of T1/2 (a low spot, maybe?) was making
folks shift up and kinda slide out of T2 onto the backstretch.

Kyle B. seemed a tad subdued on the scanner...just workman-like, no fire and he
barely made the top ten. Step-dotter observed that he was spending a lot of time
yakking with the DEI crew while the jet dryers finished up...hummmm.

Musgrave, Setzer, Darnell, Kvapil were hold-over truck drivers taking more laps
today. Ragan (quick) and Kenseth (not so) were Rousch's Cup reps...Biff was in
the Cub Cadet ride and Carl's right hand is resting up for the Brickyard.

Wimmer was in the 29, Harvick in the 33, both slow. Riggs had the 9 and Sorenson
in the 41...Stremme drove it most of the afternoon while Reed watched in street
clothes, but Stremme got no listing on the chart...dunno which ran the 16.082.

Didn't see anyone even come close to tagging the wall...a few wiggles and slips
but no drama.
