I know of one die hard Nascar fan who pretty much took the last 10 weeks off from watching. It was partially due to the presence of certain Roush drivers but the real heart of it was the absence of Joonyer. You have to believe that it had an impact on viewership. |

I don't agree with his approach. Little E could have won a few of the last 10 and it still would have been enjoyable to watch. It may have been enjoyable to you....and I certainly didn't quit watching |

It may have been enjoyable to you....and I certainly didn't quit watching because those two were out of contention for a phony baloney championship. My point is, however, that there are a lot of folks out there that gave the 24/8less chase the cold shoulder. If it happens again there will be more. There will also be a decline of interest in general because these are still their biggest attention getters. The non-fan and casual viewer pretty much only know of these two and perhaps Tonee. N$ hung all of it's hopes and dreams on Joonyer with all of the attention that built up after Dale died and them trying to pass him off as being a ledged in his own time...Joonyer that is... |

The general public will just look at N$ and say; "ehhh!" unless their heroes continue to look good. The general public will not even notice all of the "Joonyer debris" cautions and contrived "lucky dog" laps he gets. They will only see that he is (or is not) putting up the good finishes. |

IIRC, ratings were up for 2005, w/o JG or DEJ. |
