funny how Wrangler never associated with either DE or NASCAR after 1998.. I
didn't know that.

What year did Wrangler sponsor DE's car in the all-star race? I still have a
T-shirt with that color scheme, saying something about "return of the classic"
or something like that...
That would be 1999. Blue & yellow scheme with Wrangler on the hood and
Goodwrench on the panels.

Have been looking back at his early years and noticed him and Wrangler
first partnered up in 1980 and pretty much stayed with him through the
Bud Moore years and obvioulsy the early years of Richard Childress
racing, so obvioulsy they were very loyal to Earnhardt. My question
is when RCR went to the all black GM Goodwrech sponsorship was it
because Wrangler no longer wanted to sponser them, RCR no longer
wanted Wrangler, or RCR got too expensive for Wrangler?
Wrangler was more attached to Childress than to Earnhardt,
they continued to sponsor the #3 while Ricky Rudd drove it.

In any event, the reason for the change was that GM came in
offering a lot more money than Wrangler could offer. At
the time, the top teams (e.g. Jr Johnson's, with Bud) were
already set up with big dollar sponsors, so Childress and
Earnhardt were the most available team for GM to approach.
And GM then could easily make Childress an offer he couldn't
turn down.

Que!?
Rudd's sponsor at Childress was Piedmont Airlines.
Wrangler joined Earnhardt when he was driving for Osterlund in 1980.
When Osterlund sold the team to Stacy an '81, Earnhardt quit and was
hired by Childress four days later. Wrangler followed Earnhardt.
When Earnhardt left Childress and went to Bud Moore's team in '82,
Wrangler went with him.
When Earnhardt moved back to Childress at the end of '83, Wrangler went
with him AND stayed on Bud Moore's team. Wrangler sponsored both teams
in '84.

Wrangler was attached to Earnhardt, not Childress.

Ah, that's what I'm thinking of. I have it backwards in my mind
for some reason.

I get confused with his early years in Cup as well. He drove a lot of
makes for a few owners with a variety of sponsors. I had to check a
couple of those things I listed, just to make sure they were right.
