Hamlin is not a good liar. IMO, Hamlin either made a bad gamble or he
simply did not see what was ahead of him. He assumed that the wreck
would have slid down the track and he came in fast hoping to speed by it
on the outside. That never happened as the wreck remained on the high
side of the track.

Hamlin should have slowed sooner, I don't think he was being completely
honest in claiming he braked immediately. You could see his brakes lock
up late.

However, I don't think it would have mattered much. The cars behind
Denny were still going to be involved in the wreck. There simply wasn't
enough room to avoid it.

Denny needs. to hone up on his bullshitting akills, like some of the
other drivers exhibit.

Hamlin was hardly the biggest culprit of that wreck though, as the
haters claim.

I agree. The guys right behind Denny didn't let up much either.
Was it Bill Elliott that came charging in? Camera angles made it hard
to see.

Agreed, some blame goes to Tony. But look at 9, 88, 29, and probably a
few others who were involved. They would have made it through had
Hamlin not slammed in there.
Who won the ... crap, whatever the Good/Best Driving Hands award they give out? I thought the 6 should get it. Great how he did a track wide bob&weave.

Is that some kind of bite-size seafood?
I think he's got it on a hot-key or a rubber stamp or something :-)

At first I thought so, but on the replay I think someone hit him
from behind and he spun. A car sliding sideways doesn't slow down
as fast as one going in the proper direction, even with the brakes
on hard.

Menard in the 15, I think. He was the first guy past as Sadler &
Stewart were spinning across the track (and just barely brushed
the inside wall sneaking thru).

Ah, yeah, he was good too. I liked Mark better because, and maybe I'm misremembereing, but he had to go by Sadler and Stewart up top, and Dale E on the bottom.

It also looked like Montoya really kept his head and was able to avoid
the pile-up. He did have a little more time, but he was smart in how he
used it.
