Default Empty seats - 09-14-2008 , 05:39 PM

lots of empty seats in turn 3 & 4. I thought there would be more
people at the first race of the chase for the cup.

Those missing fans were in seats at football games. It happens every year
right about this time.

Those were not Nascar fans. Nobody jumped up when Jr took the lead.

There was an 80% chance of rain all day, and up until 11ish
it was raining pretty heavily...
We were amazed that they got the track dried so quickly, and got the whole
race in... nobody gave it a chance at 9:00 am...
They brought extra jet driers in,
I gotta give props to the track for an excellent job.
As late as driver intros, the stands looked more like a
truck event than a cup race..

I'm sure that had something, granted not everything, to do with it....

I got a new Matco tool box for my wife.
Best trade I ever made...

I live just 10 miles from the track, as of noon, it was still misting.
We left for the track about 12:30 and it still was lightly misting.
I'm sure a lot of people didn't want to go sit in the rain and wait to
see if the race did run. They had like 6 jet dryers working the track
when we arrived, plus people walking the fence to dry out the space
between the the safer barriers and the wall. Considering the amount of
rain we had they did a great job.
Yes there were many empty seats in 3&4, that were we sat. wanted to
get up when JR got the lead, but I didn't want my lunch to go flying.
