What was with Harvick driving the Reeses car? Did Goodwrench pull their
sponsorship of the 29?

special paint scheme for the Shootout. Many drivers do this. He'll
have the Goodwrench back for the 500.

It has less to do with the driver, and more to do with NASCAR economics.
Sponsorhips cost more and more each year, so part-time and associate
sponsors are the new way to do business. With even the smallest of companies
going global now, and far reaching downsizing to contain costs and increase
efficiency, the profit margins world wide are tightening in an effort to
remain competitive in their respective fields. IOW, this leads to less money
from single entities to spend on big budget endeavors such as NASCAR
sponsorships. Net result: Less full time 100% sponsors, more part-time,
associate and even one-off deals. It has been around for ages, for single
car teams especially, but the big teams are now embracing it, and it will be
the way of most teams' futures.
