Ask any long-time Martin fan about Dale Earnhardt's 1990

Because he lost.
Not because he won.

The NHRA, and I beleive SCCA, rulebooks are on-line or
available
for purchase.
Are they as detailed as what some what like to see?
I don't know, I have no interest in looking.
I doubt NHRA's online rule book is 150 pages.

Note that many of NASCAR's engine "rules" are not actually in
the
rulebook, but are in technical bulletins which are periodically
issued. That's why you usually see it as "parts, etc not
conforming
to NASCAR rules" rather than a specific citation.

John
we already covered that.

How does one misinterpret "NASCAR claims it was .006 over the tolerance." ?

Then later says "were extremely close" ?

NASCAR "claims", not some reporters, NASCAR.
But it's still the reporter saying "Nascar claims...." Maybe that
isn't quite what Nascar said. Did you ever think of that? Maybe the
reporter didn't hear it right.

Not because he lost. They remember *why* he lost.

My only thoughts here are it is very unlikely that the only times the
48 team was caught were the ONLY times they were cheating.

You could make this statement about any team, not
just the #48. If anything, the 48 has been under
the microsope (e.g. taking their car from Kansas).

The Gibbs and Childress teams have been caught
cheating more in last couple of years than the
Hendrick teams.
Besides the KyB indecent from a couple of weeks ago, when has JGR been
caught cheating in the last couple of years? While you are at it, could
you list all of the RCR penalties from the last couple of years also?

First, I'm a big RCR fan, but weren't they penalized
for doing some funny stuff to their wheel rims? I'm
pretty sure they were fined for that. The gibbs guys
were doing something to their throttles, but I don't
care enough to know specifically what each team did,
how they did it, or when.

I was wrong. RCR hasn't had an infraction since 2005.
I think I was confusing them with MWR, boy is that an
insult, sorry RCR. My overall point is that there are
a lot of teams pushing the envelope, and recently, it
hasn't been the Hendrick teams. Jayski has penalties
listed by year and Redbull, MWR, JGR, Roush, and DEI
all figure prominently.

Well, surely if there are all of these penalties over the last 2 years
you can come up with more than that.

It was "reported" by Bob Dilner, that RCR had drilled small holes in the
rims of the #29 and #31 allowing the air to bleed out. Nothing ever came
of it, and that was 3 years ago.

In the Nationwide series last year, crew members of the #18 and #20 put
magnets on the firewall so the accelerator pedal couldn't be pushed all
the way down during a dyno test. This, after Toyota were the ONLY make
to have spacer plates placed on their engines that took away about 15 HP.

OK, what are all of these JGR penalties in Cup? I can't think of any.

You already mentioned them.

2009: #18 car too low in post race inspection:
2008: Gibbs Penalties Announced: NASCAR announced that the #18 and #20
teams in the Nationwide Series

Just two.
