Wow, that didn't take long for another cellphone co
to emulate AT&T's successful court ruling vs Nextel(NA$CAr)!!

Um, I don't think there's any similarity here. As far as can
be seen, Alltel is not attempting to change their brandname, nor
to change the team which they are sponsoring. They seem to be
entirely within the limits set by NASCAR's sponsor agreement,
so there is no issue.

I don't get the comparison, Cru. Alltel is being acquired, not
acquiring some other company, and the people buying Alltel are
investment bankers or some such, not communications giants.

My local Alltel service was switched to Windstream late last year...

I don't think this is such a big deal Cru. Not since some
other-people's-money 'capital group' guys bought it and not Verizon,
who was looking at buying it. NOW, had it been Verizon that bought
it.....That would've been another poker in the AT&T v. Nextel fire for
sure. As it is now, I don't think another name change is in the
works for Alltel and name - and therefore brand - changes seem to be
Nextel's sticking point. At least I think they used to be called
something else around here, Cellular One maybe? Or Centel Cellular?
