That should have gotten together before the race, after the bullshit speech from Mike Helton, and decided to do this: When the pace car pulled off, stayed at the pace speed and lined up in order, nose to tail. JJ leads the first lap, then pulls down and drops to the back. Mark Martin takes the second lap, still at pace car speed, then drops to the back. Continue through the field 4 times at this rate, letting everyone lead. This will guarantee no bump drafting. After, let's see, 4x43 = 172 laps let them then begin "racing" if they still feel like it. By now, the crowd has left the track, the network is furious because it has tied up a full day of broadcast time without advertising to offset the cost, and let's see if NASCAR is happy... Then maybe, just maybe, they will start to see things from the FANS perspective.... |

That day already happened 40 years ago when Richard Petty stood up and told Bill France that he and his fellow drivers refuse to race because they thought it was too dangerous. Guess what happened.... Big Bill found other drivers who were willing to race that weekend. |
