No, both where boring this year. Ever been to the Preakness? (in the infield) No matter how boring the race, you don't care, cause you never see it!!! The infield at the Preakness and the infield at a NA $CAR race are as different as night and day. You gotta experience it a few times to know. What a blast! |

When the outrider companion horse tried to catch up the race horse was acting like he wanted to race the outrider horse. Then the lady jockey TV commentator showed up on her horse and the race horse finally started to act right. I cannot recall the name of that lady TV commentator but from hearing her talk she certainly does seem to know a lot about race horses. She was all casual about the way that the fired-up race horse was acting up and played it off like it was no big thing. Cool is as cool does. The stupid week-wasting all-star race was as boring as it always is. Somebody won a million dollars but that is not a big deal because somebody has to finish first. It was nice that is was the first win for Kasey Kahne in the Bud livery so that they do not get shut out this season. That is all it was. The all-star race is just very slightly better than a complete off week but not by much in my lights. They are paying that race horse 50 million dollars for doing the bad thing. Who said that animals were dumb? Umm, Big Brown wouldn't stop because of a combination of instinct and adrenaline. Also, appears the big guy is a closer, so he needs to have a horse ahead of him to make him want to catch up. The outrider's horse is just another racehorse to one that is hyped up after running fast and turning left. Competitive edge and desire is what makes a great Thoroughbred racehorse great! They are all bred to run, but some are just better at it than others. Charlsey Canty (sp?) is the woman announcer and she has forgotten more about horses than most people will ever know! As for the $50million, Big Brown will see lots and lots of hay, grass and grain, but no money. Since it isn't edible, horses just don't really care about how much money you are offering them! The owners on the other hand will see LOTS and LOTS of money, and maybe even more, if this wonderful, awe-inspiring piece of horseflesh manages to win the Triple Crown in three weeks at the Belmont Stakes! Sandy, THT (I have NEVER let Reason to Shout run as fast as possible because I am pretty sure the brakes that I have worked on developing over the last 6 years would be completely shot to Hell if I let him "return to the track!" But then again, if he is as lazy as he was earlier today, maybe a gallop would wake him up a bit!!! ;-)) For the next race the owners of Big Brown would be well served to get a AQHA for an outrider. A normal pony cannot keep up.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - Lots of those outrider horses are retired racehorses, and I believe the owners don't have a lot of say in which horse does which job. Reason ran 29 races in 2 years, and then spent 2 more years as a pony horse (both parade and outrider) after that. They like the retired racehorses because very little at the track spooks them after they finish racing. Sorry, but QH are only fast in the 1/4 mile. Kind of like drag racers of the horse world. But BOY can those puppies accelerate!!! (Ducking all the things being thrown at me by the QH owners of the world! ;-)) Sorry, will try to keep facts out of discussions in the future! ;-) Sandy, THT (I may complain about the big lug, but I wouldn't trade Reason for all the other horses out there, especially on a day like today when he was just so darned fun to ride! He even walked through the woods with all the distractions like a perfect gentleman!) I was just making a joke that they would need a Quarter Horse to catch Big Brown after the wire. Do not feel bad if your sense of humor cannot keep up to my sense of humor any more than a normal horse can catch Big Brown. Them ugly little quarter horses are not very pretty and they are not very well bred but they do one thing well.- Hide quoted text - - Show quoted text - |
