Default How tall is Jeff Gordon? - 04-19-2007 , 06:11 AM

In the pre-race interview, he looked like he was about 4'-6" and
weighed about 75 lbs. Is that close?

He's 5'7" or 5'8", depending on where you read it. It obviously is a
good thing to be relatively short when you're a racecar driver. Look
at Mikey. LOL.

I think I read in Maxim he is 5'7". They had an article a few months
back about short Napolean types who are successful.

That's being a tad generous.

Indeed. The TeeVee folks use trick photography and favorable camera angles
to make him seem normal sized. Kinda like the movie people do with Tiny Tom
Cruise.

I think he's more like 3' 9" tall and around 50-55 lbs. soaking wet. Just a
little bit bigger than Mark Martin.

He's 5'7" or 5'8", depending on where you read it.
Seeing him side-by-side with various folk, I'd say that might be
a tad generous.

LOL indeed (altho Buddy Baker might want to take issue with that,
not to mention Tiny Lund).

Being serious for a minute, being short isn't an advantage to a
driver - in fact, being tall would probably be a slight advantage.
What is an advantage is being light, since it gives you an opportunity
to locate ballast in the car in an advantageous place (i.e. very low
down). Most drivers are in the 140 to 160 range (with Gordon likely
at the low end of that), quite a bit lighter than the average male.

According to "Athlon Sports" magazine he is 5'7" 150 lbs.

By comparison, they have Mikey listed at 6'5" 210 lbs.

That might be a tad generous too. I've sat in Mikey's car (back
in the Bahari days), and the seat/pedals/etc were pretty close to
right for me, and I'm 6'. I'd have guessed him at 6-2 or 6-3,
and maybe 230 or so.

I saw Jeff Gordon at Michigan last June from about 25 feet away. He is
certainly not taller than 5'7".
