(again) Scott Speed made all five hundred laps at Bristol. He must be a
lot better than what I said about him.

Auto racing is pretty much going downhill worldwide as a spectator sport but
it would be pretty funny to me if NASCAR is the last one standing.

Maybe the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean are no longer singing love songs to
car models and the car is just a noxious waste of money instead of a status
symbol but they are still pretty big in our lives. Would you rather wait
for a bus?

NASCAR may have morphed from real man Junior Junior to real punk Kyle Busch
but it is still big engine big speed big (you know what) driving skills and
pit crew strategy.

I am not expressing it perfectly but those of you of a certain age know what
I mean.

Today is today and it is all good with me. But a kid with an iPhone and a
Twitter account is not experiencing the same thing as a kid with a 440 GTX
no matter how you space it.

Yeah, except I'd want a 426 GTX - gimme a Hemi. Preferably one that
didn't cost 200 large:

The hemi GTX was not really a streetable car. It had too many working
parts. The 440 Magnum was more of a daily driver and was even used by some
Highway Patrols. Feeling lucky, punk? Well, are ya?
