C'mon Gordo fans:

Gordon

1993 0 wins
1994 2 wins

Newman

2002 1 win
2003 8 wins (so far)

Hmmm, maybe a title next year.....

both grew up in indiana, both have open-wheel roots. however, the similarities
end there, considering the homosexuality of gordon.

Lets see, to get a good comparison, we'll have to wait and see how Ryan does
2 years from now in the critical 2005 campaign. If he can do better than
Jeff's runner-up position in the final standings of 96, just 37 points away
from the title, then we'll really have a comparison to make...oh,
right...Ryan has to win the championship next year, get within 37 points or
better to the championship in 05, and win the championship again in 06 and
again in 07.

But he is having a helluva year...and a championship seems to be right
around the corner if they find a way to keep the car running till the end of
each race...they've got the fuel thing down pretty good...just gotta keep
the car right side up more often.

You're right. Lately, Newman has out-gayed Jeffy by leaps and bounds.

Yeah, compared to Tony and Ryan, Jeffy got a slow start. But he really
revved it up in years 3 through 6:

Jeffy:
Year Wins Pts
1 0 14th
2 2 8th
3 7 1st
4 10 2nd
5 10 1st
6 13 1st

Tony:
Year Wins Pts
1 3 4th
2 6 6th
3 3 2nd
4 3 1st
5(YTD) 1 8th

Ryan:
Year Wins Pts
1 1 6th
2(YTD) 8 4th

It'll be interesting to see if Ryan can continue his current pace, and
win 10+ races per year and 2 or 3 championships over the next 4 or 5
years. Tony started faster than Jeffy, but appears to have sputtered out
a little.

The pressure is now on...

Gordon is from CA on the weekends they race there, probably San
Francisco.

In many respects a race career comparison is best to be compared with
wins top-5's top-10s and such. Especially when they invent a new era
by changing the points system.

In that case, wins is the only yardstick that one can use consistantly
and Jeff has 62 in his 10 year career. Pretty good. I will continue
to compare him to Newman in terms of wins. The championships will
come for Newman, but aren't a necessity to compare careers.

So far, in two years, Newman has accomplished the same number of wins
as JG in 3. For next year he only has to get 10 wins to beat Jeff.
It is much more of a feat by todays parity standards also than in 96.

But he did NOT win a championship that year, though, did he? WTF does
this have to do with anything? 10 wins is more of a feat than a
second place championship standing.

The titles will be coming, but they are irrelevant.

Maybe they borrowed the T-Rex car. Each burnout at the end of the
race is proof of a lack of Traction Control, unlike Jeffy trying to do
a burnout at Indy with TC turned on.
