The bottom line is that he failed post-race inspection, not pre-race, so, he raced an illegal car and scored a top-5. Put an asterik next to that one. Wow, no mercy. I read that it was due to a broken shock. |

Joe Gibbs Racing released the following statement: "The situation was caused when the left-front spring became dislodged. This resulted in the left-front corner of the car to be lower and resulted in a change to the car's handling which had to be compensated for during the race. Consequently, the car measured low during post-race inspection, " the statement read. "We accept NASCAR's ruling on the issue." Left-front low, how convenient. /s Left side lower than the right...let me see, we are making left turns on a flat track... |

Wow, no mercy. *I read that it was due to a broken shock. The interesting and "no mercy" aspect here is that Busch got 25 points and $25,000, for an error which was not intentional and probably had no beneficial effects. *Carl Long got 200 points, $200,000 fine, and a 12 week suspension for an error which was clearly not intentional, and clearly had no beneficial effects. Why the difference? It certainly appears that NASCAR's penalties have no relevance to the infraction, and are entirely determined by who the team owner is, and how big and important their sponsors are. John |

Why did Nascar fine the #18 if it was "clearly" unintentional? |

If you knew what a rhetorical question is, you wouldn't need to plagiarize cute little one-liners. Are you going to defend the #18 team too, or just prattle on? |
