However, I don't have a problem with Busch myself. My problem is with the system itself. KB doesn't deserve the championship, but I don't blame him for taking it home, anybody would. What we are bummed about is how this system has changed the sport we've watched our whole lives and how the guy who has the best year overall isn't necessarily the champion. The term "champion" in Nascar has been redefined and the new definition doesn't command near as much respect at the definition of it did in the past. It's too bad for Busch because he is a very impressive competitor. |

I'm not going to weigh in with my personal opinion of Busch as it is completely irrelevant ~ the fact is that since the point champion under the new rules isn't the same as it would have been if they were scoring it under the old system there are going to be a large contingent of people that feel the "champion" doesn't deserve the title. In many people's opinion the true champion is the one that has shown that over the course of the season that he had the best record... he scored more points, won more money, had more wins, more top fives, more top tens and more poles. It's hard to argue with their logic that he deserved to be the champion. |

Subject: I'm tired of all the crap From: "Go_Busch" dontgotone (AT) nospam (DOT) com Kurt Busch drove a hell of a race today...he's had one hell of a year. Ah....maybe you should teach Kurt to respect first, then he can earn respect back. Why do you think there were so many boo's when he was introduced today? |
|
Why do you think there was little cheering at the presentation of the trophy? |

Nobody questioned whether Michael Schumacher truly earned his 2004 WDC. Ditto Bourdais. If Busch is ever introduced to Schumacher or Bourdais, Busch better never let it slip that he actually finished 4th in points. |

It's too bad for Busch because he is a very impressive competitor. -- Shock Very well said. Change is inevitable in sports. Here's a question. Do you honestly consider Matt Kensenth more of a champion than Kurt? Matt won under the "old" points system. Kurt had more wins this year than Matt did last year. Not to mention also that Kensenth had 11 top5s and 25 top10s. Kurt has 10 top5s 21 top 10s. There's not really much of a difference. I honestly can't figure this out. I would consider Kurt more of a champion than Matt because of the number of wins? What do you think? I think it is difficult to compare statistics from one year to statistics from another ~ but overall, yes, IMO Matt is a more deserving champion than Busch because over the course of the year Matt scored more points than anyone else ~ Busch did not. When Matt won he also scored more top 10s than anyone else ~ Busch did not. In fact, there is not one important statistic that Busch did lead in all year ~ not points, money, wins, top 5s, top 10s or poles. In any other season there is no possible way that he would have been the champion, but because of the manufactured ratings booster "chase for the championship" we have to accept it. Well after today he has led in money for the season....what with that 5.2 million big assed check.... ![]() |

well yeah, he may lead in that category now ~ but since the argument would be that he didn't deserve the championship |
