Dave Despain to me represents a common man approach to dealing with
all the stars. Yeah he likes motorpickles too much, but he sure seems
to know & appreciate stockcarracin a lot. 2 each their own, i guess?

I tidied up my various schedules of this and that and got ruthless with
the NASCAR stuff, so I was looking at the print TVGuide, and didn't see

Now, I am not much of a motorcycle racing fan, but I do like the flat track
type of racing. They had an AMA event here at Houston Raceway Park last
year, and I really enjoyed it. I just wish there was more to follow on TV,
and around here.

I read the newsgroup all the time--very rarely post...but I couldn't
resist this one! Does anyone remember when Despain WENT OFF a few
years ago on his TV show "Wind Tunnel" on Speed? If I remember
correctly, his rant was mostly centered around NASCAR and its fans. It
was a live program and at the end of the show when he gave his opinions
and such, he let loose a stream of cursing that had me and the hubby
laughing hysterically! Better yet...anyone have that saved and can
share it with others?

No, refreshing. I don't imagine that I could do his job. My guess is that
the email he gets is similar to what us posted here and over in RASI (and
probably the same folks, especially the obnoxious ones). No matter what he
says or does, he will get flack for it. That is what happens to media folks
who try and open avenues of communication with the average fan. Just look
at what happened to Mike Joy in this little chat room. The weak minded and
feeble get off on criticizing these folks, especially when and if they can
get a response. I happen to have an inkling of knowledge about what a job
like that takes, and I would want no part of it.
