Default Jeff Burton and "Exide Batteries" - 09-08-2007 , 08:48 AM

Way back when, in the days when Jeff Burton was still driving the 99,
I took note of his sponsor which I think was "Exide Batteries" at the
time. I decided to give one of their dry cell "Optima" batteries a
try. That was just shy of 9 years ago when I bought it and only today
did I finally have to replace it.

9 years (including 8 heavy winters with some cranking at below zero
temperatures) is not too shabby for a battery. Thanks Jeff, for
introducing me to your sponsor's great batteries. Since they were in
the process of being bought out by Interstate Batteries at the time
(at least I think they were, the battery actually carries an
"Interstate Battery" logo), I guess some props go to Joe Gibbs Racing
and Bobby Labonte also.

I won't hesitate to buy another one after I replace my current car in
a few months.

Yeah, that even goes back further-Geoffry Bodine was the first to drive for
Exide Batteries. That's preety darn good for a battery!

the optima red top is all i run in my vehicles...some of my vehicles sit for
a long time between startups. the Optima has never let me down...and it's
sealed, that is a bonus.

If you'd stop running afoul of the law, you could keep your driver's license
and those vehicles wouldn't sit so long. 8^D

1991 I was first into Winston Cup. didnt have a driver, I chose kyle petty
cause I liked the neon green and black car. I found out quickly Kyle wasnt
the guy to place wagers on. I went to Geoff Bodine Exide #7 for a while .
Following year 96? i followed Exide to there new driver JB. Been on Burtons
side ever since. I bought an exide battery once . It lasted 1 year (I must
of had other charging issues?) but the pepboys battery i put in lasted 5
more years.. I never bought exide again..although i have many examples of
exide cars/pics/cutout in my nascar room. I go optima now. never had a
problem ever

Can't help it, I have got to ask, how often do you get to ride your ass?
