I can't believe they use 80 psi in the coolant systems. Maybe so.

'Tis true...higher pressure means a higher boiling point.

JG's was 'high!'.

That's true Tom. They use a higher pressure, pressurized system now
and is the reason it is so hard to "put more water in" once she starts
blowing like a whale. Gordon's CC said as much on Sirius this morning,
that they would've lost "all pressure" to have tried to force more
water into it and that they elected to "win by staying out, or blow up
trying". I'd say that yesterday at least, they chose wisely.

Larry McReynolds was on at the same time, and agreed, that with
today's "systems" that putting water in isn't as easy as it used to be
and that Steve and the 24 crew made the right choice. I'd say so Larry
Mac. Tho, had they "dunn blowed up", then it wouldn't have looked so
smart. That's why they run all the laps instead of passing out the
trophy after driver intros I guess...

By the by, Steve LeTarte (sp?) admitted that the readiator let go
after he (JG) pulled into Victory Lane, and that "only about 1 gallon"
of water was left in the system (based on his guess after seeing the
puddle in VL). Wow! I'd have thought she was as dry as could be based
on the video I saw...Little wonder that they're doing as good as they
are...those HMS engines are a work of art this season...by far the
Standard by which everyone else is being measured at this point in
time. Randy Dorton must have left that place stacked with gurus.

Given the alternatives, the decision would have been just as smart,
regardless of the outcome. The decision is based on what actions can be
taken, and then hope prevails.

Randy was great... but NC is full of engine geniuses.

Did you hear the engine go POP!! in VL, just as he pulled in? It was
like, "Thar she blows!" LOL.
