Jeff Gordon's Crew Chiefs Some in RASN have stated that Steve Letarte hasn't been very good for JG, so here's the comparison of JG's 4 Crew Chiefs: Sts Wins-W% T5s-T5% T10s-T10% Poles-PO% Letarte 36 3--8.33 13-36.11 18--50.00 0--0.00 Loomis 204 23-11.27 78-38.24 119--58.33 24-11.76 Whitesell 7 2-28.57 2-28.57 4--57.14 0--0.00 Evernham 216 47-21.76 116-53.70 140--64.81 30-13.89 Combo L&L 240 26-10.83 91-37.92 137--57.08 24-10.00 Ev & BW 223 49-21.97 118-52.91 144--64.57 30-13.45 Historically, The Greatest Drivers got their most wins in their 30's: RP-66%(132 of 200wins), DP-70%, BA-52%, DW-80%, CY-60%, DE-55%, RW-75%, Lee Petty-20% but in his 40's-80%, NJ-84%, JrJ-48%. These 10 drivers with 50+ Wins got 61% of their wins in their 30's. JG won 52 races of his 75 total in his 20's = 69.3% (JrJ 2nd at 52%) and 23 wins in his 30's = 30.7%. JG has 5 more seasons before he turns 40. It appears that JG will not get up to The Average. It may have more to do with better competition than The 10 had, rather than bad Crew Chiefs? |
