I so much want to say that everytime I see that expression too!

But I am starting to think it's so ubiquitous in the US that we are destined
to see that spelling in dictionaries as 'correctly' meaning it's opposite
eventually... so best to get used to it now :-(

I heard a professional talking head on SpeedTV actually say it as "I could
care less" a couple of months back. I knew all was lost right then.

Funny how that works. The word "irregardless" made it into the dictionary
based only on the common misuse of the term.

Y'know, I watched qualifying on Fri (which I rarely do), and
that pointed up the whole Johnson problem. They interviewed
him after his run, which was a good run, and he gave all the
right answers ("good run" "thanks to the crew" "thanks to Lowes")
in a flat, level, almost monotone voice.

Then they interviewed Max Papis about his run: "Man what a
great run!" "Thank my crew - I love these guys! What a great
car!" "I love this! I just give thanks I can be here!". No
question about his excitement and emotion, he's practically
bouncing off the walls.

In fact, seeing Max acting like a John Force on steroids makes
me think that what Johnson needs is to spend some time with
Force. Force's interviews are an act (Papis is not, btw), and
perhaps he can teach Johnson how to do a little of that, and
put some interest into them.

Some like the emotional, flamboyant, modern-day athlete with
attitude types; and, not the quiet, stoic, rational, traditional male,
Vince Lombardi sort of athlete.

I never cared for the guys that dance in the end zone, pray to
God when they make tackle, spike the ball, thump the chest,
etc... Unfortunately too many do. Watching a good team is
entertainment enough for me.

I like the guys that have a job to do and let their stats and
accomplishments do their talking for them. JJ and the 48
team have 3 championships in a row; that's anything but
monotone.

Yeah, but there's a difference between the "hey, look at me, I'm
great, look at me LOOK AT ME" sort of exuberance, and just being
excited about what you do. You want to see some level of enthusiasm
when things work right, just like you want to see disgust or anger
or something when it goes wrong. The "just another day at the
office" attitude is boring.

All the NASCAR talking heads use "I" incorrectly (instead of "me") -
just like Marilyn Monroe in "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes."

They say it because they think it makes their grammar more correct,
without regard to the rule about using "me" when it's an object of a
preposition. I'll never get through to them. Sigh.
