Jr's shelf while driving for HMS diminishes all of the achievements of
HMS's previous champions.

I have seen a good deal of posts saying that Jr wanted to take control
of DEI so he could make it a top program. That's just stupid. DEI is
already a top program. In it's short existence, 4 drivers have won
races in DEI equipment. Steve Park won in a DEI car, for Chrissake.
Michael Waltrip won in DEI equipment. How's he doing now? Martin
Truex, DEI's best driver, has won. DEI cars have been dominant,
virtually unbeatable, at certain tracks.

Hendrick will learn that Jr's name is only going to carry him so far.
His talent won't. Jr is not a top 10 driver, maybe not even top 20.
10 drivers that are more talented than Jr:
Stewart
Gordon
Johnson
Kenseth
Harvick
Burton
Truex
Labonte
Busch
Busch

Other drivers that are arguably better than Jr are
Gordon (Yes, Robby)
Newman
Biffle
Hamlin
Edwards
McMurray

I was a big Sr fan. I pulled for Jr for years but he does not have the
talent to win races unless he has the dominant car out of the truck.

JR will be ok at HMS.If he loses any fans..then they were not real
fans in the first place. ...As for your lists...those guys are
good...time will tell if they are better. JR has the skills he
needs..now maybe all the distractions will go away and the boy can
just drive out from the shadow he has been under for years. Walk a
mile in his shoes... Give the kid a chance to back up what he has been
saying for some time now. Now there are no excuses..all he has to do
starting next year is drive...let the boy alone and let him do just
that. If he falls on his face..then yall can tell me " I told
you so"

Good luck to him but he has painted himself into a corner. In a way,
his rejection of the silver spoon he entered racing with is
inspirational, but He does not have the commitment to win it all, and
I'm telling you so right now.

Isn't Jr. keeping his 49% share in DEI after he moves to Hendrick's team?
If so, this is a brilliant move for Jr.

I think Jr's share was 0%, but I'm not sure. As it stands now, he may
never have a piece of the company. And I think the odds of his
inheriting it from Teresa were long before he left DEI, now they're
even smaller. He's a race car driver that is also a hip-hop wannabe.
He has less than a 50/50 of even outliving DEI's current owner.

I'm sure he feels that he has enough fans to weather the loss of a few who
get upset simply because he moved on to drive for a different race team.
Yeah - he'll probably lose those who still worship his father, but at some
point those fans are going to realize that Sr. is dead and they'll all
probably quit watching races and buying memorabilia anyway.

Somehow the proof of this assertion never came through - just the claim
itself. My usenet provider must have dropped that from your original post.

It's been quite a while since DEI cars were dominant anywhere - including
restrictor plate tracks. What they did 5 years ago is ancient history in a
sport that moves forward every day.

All right! Someone else who recognizes Robby Gordon really does have
talent. You're forgiven a multitude of sins Brotha.

Wow, you are lucky that you don't have to take a test to post on usenet,
otherwise, you would be stuck playing your Atari 2600.
