I didn't follow the link Alan, does he have to do those 50 hours in Phoneix? That could present a timing problem given these guys' "busy" schedules throughout the year. NASCAR driver sentenced to community service for traffic citations TOLLESON, Ariz. NASCAR driver Kurt Busch has been ordered by a Phoenix-area judge to perform 50 hours of community service after a highly publicized traffic stop three months ago. Busch attorney Lee Stein says his client admitted to speeding, following too closely and passing in a no-passing zone. The original charge of reckless driving was dismissed. The citations stemmed from a traffic stop in November near Phoenix International Raceway. Busch allegedly became belligerent after a deputy pulled him over for having taken evasive action to avoid another car and running a stop sign. The incident occurred the night before the Checker Auto Parts 500 at P-I-R. As a result of his run-in with the law, Busch was suspended from the final two NASCAR races of the season by his former team. http://www.kold.com/Global/story.asp?S=4474142&nav=14RV -- - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pittsburgh-pirates - http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/nascar-group - http://groups.yahoo.com/group/politics-usa-republican - http://sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/pittsburgh-steelers |

Do some research, the handheld unit used in the field registered a BAC much lower than allowed by law. I don't care for KB, but facts are facts. |

Whether he was legally drunk or not is not really the bottom line issue. He's a professional race car driver and should have had the maturity to know not to drive after drinking, period. Let alone drive like the idiot he apparently is. It's too bad he wasn't held accountable for his actions and banned from NASCAR. At least Jack Rousch had the balls to fire his stupid dumbo eared ass. |

There is more to this than we are being told. I think he was drunk. He gets 50 hours of community service for speeding, following too closely and passing in a no-passing zone. Who in this group hasn't done this? Sober. Mark |

I had to pay the ticket and I got 50 hrs of community service and that was with the help of a lawyer. They wanted to give me A LOT more than that! |

Exactly 'what' he must do is usually up to the county. For example, he could produce a public service announcement, or a promotional spot, which could burn a lot of those hours in studio or production time and wouldn't necessarily need to be done within the county. He must complete the 50 hours within a year, so if it must be done within the county, it could be a problem even with two Phoenix race dates. I guess it depends on how difficult or strict the county wants to be. |

I imagine they'll hold his feet to the fire pretty good with the high profile nature of this particular case. I also know that he likely just had the year to achieve the time, and was what got me to wondering about the timing. 50 hours is a good long while when it is time being "served", so to speak. I mean it's over 8 hours per day for 6 days if they were to apply a basic workday each time out. I can see a lot of private jet hours and fuel being spent on adhering to this mandate this year...it will be quite an expensive 50 hours for someone IMO. |

That's ridiculous. 50 hours of community service. If it were you and I-we would be sitting in jail right now. Another person/celebrity gets off the "hook". Sorry-just venting! |

He could easily put in the 50 hours during a week when there isn't any Cup race. N. |
