Default Kurt makes safe driving PSA - 04-20-2006 , 04:26 PM

Busch makes amends for traffic violations
Brent Whiting
The Arizona Republic

Race-car driver Kurt Busch, cited last year by Maricopa County
sheriff's deputies for reckless driving, offers a word of advice:
Dangerous driving belongs on racetracks, not public roadways.

That's the gist of a public-service announcement that Busch did
Wednesday with Sheriff Joe Arpaio at the Bob Bondurant School
of High Performance Driving, south of Phoenix. The PSA is
expected to air on Valley television stations in May or June.

The NASCAR driver was stopped Nov. 11. He was fined $580 and
ordered to perform 50 hours of community service after pleading
guilty Feb. 10 to a reduced charge of speeding, a misdemeanor,
and admitting responsibility for following too closely and passing
in a no-passing zone. The time spent on the PSA is expected to
count toward the 50 hours.

Arpaio said that he was "pleasantly surprised" Wednesday "at how
gracious this man was" despite the controversy.

No shit Sherlock....errr...Arpaio. KuB has run out of strikes, he has to be
nice now or else. Roger Penske and Don Wallace won't tolerate much of his
crap, not with his track record. I don't think Miller Brewco will either.

Speaking of strikes, anyone see his throw of the first pitch at the Marlins
game? Can't throw him under the bus and him not a ballplayer, but damb! lol
That was funny. Would have drilled a lefty and sent him to first for getting
hit by the, ahem, pitch - for lack of a better term.

Didn't see it. Was it Derrick Cope? I heard he may be looking for a
job....

LOL Nah, it was Kurt Busch. Threw out the first pitch at a Marlins game
earlier this week, saw the footage on the local sports rundown one evening
this week.

Accodring to Jayski though, you're right. Between being underfunded and now
fined $50k, I believe Cope and the 74 team are having to skip a few races.
