Then make him stand idle while the other runners catch up. It's not what you do at the end of the race, it's what you do through the entire marathon. Ouch.... I guess you failed to consider the concept of a yellow flag/ 8^) No, when I referred to the "race" and "marathon" I meant the entire season as one big race. It shouldn't matter what you do at the end of the season as long as what you did early in the season put you far enough ahead. Ok I'll type slow this time. In auto racing it does not matter how far ahead you got when a yellow flag is thrown. The field is bunched up. You keep your position but you loose all that wasted energy spent getting far ahead of the field. Most mature drivers know this and don't waste all their gas and tires trying to get as far ahead of the field as is humanly possible. Most newbees don't. "That's Racin!" Get it now? |

No need to type slow, I'm no idiot. I've been watching racing since 1992. I know that sometimes a yellow flag is thrown with 10 laps left and the field is bunched up. The guy who was way out front is pissed. Are you saying that that is what the chase is? A yellow flag thrown 2/3 through the season? The field bunches up. Therefore it makes the concept of The Chase legitimate because it sometimes happens during individual races? I'm really not following your point. And I think I lost mine somewhere in all this. |

You and I both know that The Chase was created because of MONEY. People would not watch NASCAR if the points leader was so far ahead with a lot races to go. They had to compete with football. So they pulled this Chase concept out of their ass so people would watch the races. It wasn't broke but they tried to fix it. |
