Default Kyle Petty at Loudon - 09-20-2006 , 02:26 PM

Did Kyle qualify his car for this last race? I know he has a hard time
coming to Loudon, for obvious reasons, but I know he did qualify for
the July race. Just curious.

Yes, indeed it was Kyle Petty that qualified 16th at NH.
Perhaps in yore sporadic memory since 'Adam's Accident',
KP has made 22 of 24 NH Starts. I have no memory of him
not showing up at NH, but i thot it was great that
Tony Stewart 'strongly encouraged' Patti Petty to show up
at this year's race.

Didn't Tony actually use his latest bug contribution to the VJGC to get
Patty up there this last time? (I think there were several TV spots about
the situation.)

And you can also confirm or deny this, stat dude, but I think Kyle has
"skipped" everything but the race at least few times since Adam's death up
at Loudon, to the extent of having someone else Q and practice his car, and
then he came in on Sunday and just ran the race IIRC. Of course he started
shotgun on the field as a result those times, but I think that has happened.
Also IIRC, he said at the time that he and PEI owed it to their sponsors to
race the car, but he didn't come to "that" track until he absolutely had to.

Sim,
Thanks. That is what I had thought he had done in the past. In an
attempt to be more brief in my messages, I guess that meaning got lost
in the translation. I knew he hadn't missed many, and I couldn't
recall if he had missed any, of the races after Adam's death but I was
pretty sure he didn't go to the track unless he absolutely had to do
so.

those concussions! ;-))

Yeah, for this season, I can't really recall. I admit, I am an anti-fan of
Loudon (I don't care for flat tracks over 3/4 mile, and Loudon was one half
of the death-nail of North Wilks here in my home state of NC) but I do
recall Kyle skipping some Q and practice at least a time or several there
since Adam's death, I just could not put any specific dates to those
occurrences. I am pretty sure though that if he has missed any starts there,
it was due to simply not making the field.

I am not the eminent authority Sandy, but those were my best recollections.
See my other reply today in this thread, and realize I am not, and never
have been, a fan of Loudon. So some lingering bias may be influencing my
train of thought if not downright derailing said train.
