It been the issue since 5 yrs ago. I can't believe that so many ppl STILL can't see that the reason DES lost control, was because Rusty took the air off of his spoiler. SM didn't have anything to do with it. When it first happened I also thought SM bumped him but after seeing the replay over and over, I realized that wasn't the case. And no, I'm not blaming anyone, it's plate racing. Like TS said, someone might get killed today. I was a HUGE DES fan, but I do have to say, the holding up of 3 fingers yesterday is just a little spooky to me. Almost as spooky as the ppl that think Elvis is still alive. I was a fan, too. Well, he's not exactly around to root for anymore, is he. So why don't you get a life. What's done is done. Get over it and move on. Get over what? I'm just responding with facts which some ppl have a problem understanding : ) |

Why was it OK for Dale to wreck people on purpose, but when he dies trying to block for little E and Mikey it's someone else's fault? |

http://espn.go.com/rpm/wc/2001/0218/1093772.html Earnhardt, running fourth, grazed Sterling Marlin's car, crashed into the wall at the high-banked fourth turn going about 180 mph, and was smacked hard by Ken Schrader. http://www.nascar.com/2001/NEWS/02/18/earnhardt_stewart/index.html His No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet was bumped into the spin by Sterling Marlin's closely following No. 40 Dodge between Turns 3 and 4 of the 2.5-mile speedway as a tangled pack of cars raced to the checkered flag. http://www.racehippie.com/nascar-history/history-of-nascar.php Although there were some reports that Marlin touched Earnhardt's bumper, most observers in the press box concluded that there was no contact and that Earnhardt lost control because Marlin's car disrupted the airflow across Earnhardt's rear spoiler. You can post 100 links if you want to. I have the race recorded on DVR and have watched that last lap MANY times. If you watch it frame by frame, you can see that SM NEVER touched DES, nor did he take the air off. Rusty did. Why only a handful of ppl have brought this up, just baffles me. I guess it's just easier not to really look at it closely and to blame SM. |

Ron wrote: The Hammer wrote: I am sure you know infinitely more than ESPN and NASCAR. Janal, is that you? WATCH the tape/disc.......Sheesh NASCAR.com posted the last 5 laps in a video stream. I sent the link to this group 24 hours ago. Many of us viewed it multiple times. Sterling was right behind him; and over the last 4 laps DW announced Sterling tapping his rear at least 3 and maybe 4 times in different turns. BTW, are you gonna stick with that nic this yr, or are ya gonna change it 100 times? Haven't decided yet. It's getting hard to remember all of them. Not my problem. Your problem is explaining how NASCAR doctored the video tape they posted on their website to show SM being behind DE, and doctored the audio to replace the word RW with SM each time. What a conspiracy loon. Geez....... |

Watch it again frame by frame. Watch Rusty's car. Notice how DES gets loose when RW comes flying up behind him. |

You watch the one on NASCAR.com and you can clearly see what I am talking about. Repeatedly through those final laps they keep saying SM just got into DE. Then of course is the wreck. Unless something is available to substantiate your claim; then I am going with what NASCAR.com's video shows; as well as what NASCAR, ESPN, RaceHibbie, and Jayski said about the accident. |
