Letarte is a loser - he cannot make a bad handling car handle better & at a
more frequent basis lately, takes good handling car & turns them into dump
trucks.
Letarte has got to go.
I'm really thinking he is a primo loser - he's the only Hendrick crew
chief who can take a great car and make it worse and worse and worse
as the race goes on. I don't know why Jeff sticks up for him; way
to go, Steve - from # 6 to # 10 in one race.

I'm afraid Jeff may be making some strategic calls and not allowing Letarte be in 100% control of
race strategy.
This never works out well.
Check Dale Earnhardt's win record with Larry Mac as his crew chief.
Only one win in two years together. (Daytona 500). In Larry's biography, he wrote that Dale almost
always vetoed Larry's car setups and pit decisions, Larry had to do only the things Dale was
comfortable with, not what was best for the car's performance.

So, you finally admit it.

I've been calling for his head for years now, pay some attention.
If you say so.

I do.

So it's Gordon's fault? lol
Gordon's car handled well early and he drove it to the 3rd position - the
track changed, & Letarte couldn't adjust to it. I do admit that Gordon has
lost some of his edge (Rich Na$car Driver's Syndrome), but between the
poor pit strategy & poorer adjustments on the car, Letarte gets most of
the blame for that finish.
It's been the same story with Gordon for years, well, with his fans. When he
does not run well, it is the CC's fault. That's where the Jr. fans learned
it from. There is no way that HMS is saddling two of their drivers with two
of the worst CC's in the series. It just isn't happening. Gordon and Jr. do
have the same problem, though, and that is a lack of hunger.

He was hungry early in the race, but not in the latter parts of the race?
Gordon screwed the car's handling up?
Uh.....,Bullshit.
Gordon does play a part in it, but not in the way you mean. Gordon likes to
have a CC he can push around & he has that with Letarte.
BTW, who were you complaining about in the latter stages of Sr's career?
Gotta love the broad-brushed remarks about "Gordon fans" as if they act any
different than any other driver's fans...

You do not have to be hungry to run well in at points in a race, or even for
a whole race. But it helps.
However, if you want to have a chance to win each week, you need to be
hungry - starving, as a matter of fact.

I guess he's had that with his last however many CCs he's had since he won
his last cup.

I never blamed Sr's CC for anything Sr. did. It has always been about the
man in the car for me.

I don't think JG is exactly known for making "strategic" and
especially detailed calls on setup. Not like Rusty, or Mark Martin,
for example.

He is excellent at telling Letarte what the car is doing and what he
doesn't like, and Letarte is supposed to know how to correct that. He
usually doesn't, and ends up making the car worse. The only things
I've heard JG say on the radio that is specific, is "put it back the
way it was."
