What with tracks in the United States of America wanting more race dates, why
does NASCAR go to Mexico?

A bunch of sponsors want full coverage of NAFTA.
A lot of auto racing fans there and they will fill the stands.

(Are there a lot of tracks asking for more Busch dates?)

To broaden the audience and the market for sponsorship. That, and a 100,000
strong crowd for a Busch race.

That'd be my guess too Carey. The stands didn't look too empty for the Rolex
sports cars on Saturday either:

Read the "Noteworthy" section at the bottom, that "JC France" is one of
"those" Frances BTW. Got into a fight, is suspended for a race and is on
open-ended probation. How funny...

I did notice that on the pre-race stuff, and just assumed that he was "a"
France. Maybe time for a rule change in that division, too?

LOL! Dunno about a rule change, but I am about 99.9% sure I heard that JC
France was some sort of grandchild to one of the Bills (JC France was born
in 1965, your guess is as good as mine) on one of the Sunday speed shows.
His bio says "Born: Lakeland FL 1965, Hometown: Daytona FL" so I figured I
had heard right. Could be more distant than a grandchild, but I didn't Tivo
everything this weekend and can't recall where I heard that stated.

Then they should do a baja type road coarse in South Africa in the hopes
that it brings Black Americans into the fold of NA$Cball fandom.

Believe it or not, and without the racist overtones, that is not too far
from the truth. What is the entire population of the state of Kentucky?
Mexico City alone has 18 million, plus. Big market there alone.

I couldn't believe my ears when I heard Mike Joy state the Mexico City
population (which I think he said was 20 million, so 18, 20, close enough).
That is a pretty big reason indeed. Do they (N) race anywhere else that
large in population, in the US or otherwise?

And to Weasel's point, it may not be that far off. Our lovely Prez seems to
think that NAFTA and various other trade agreements in place with Mexico are
necessary to "build a middle class" down there, and presumably stop the
flood of illegals that come here to do that very thing. Whatever. I don't
mind being the melting pot nation, just as long as the immigrants come here
legally, get a SS number (and pay their taxes) and learn the language.
That's my one big stickler about Mexican immigrants to our area (NC has had
a huge influx over the past decade), and that's their reluctance to even
attempt to learn English. Call me a racist if you must, but I don't think
it's our place to learn their language if they're going to live here among
us.
