Earned .. There is such a thing as conserving fuel It really bothers
me when people say he did not earn the win because of strategy Or the
fastest car did not win. that is absurd, a win is a win that matter
how you do it. I sya if you can outsmart the other guy go for it. With
the way COT cars are the fact is most of the time the fastest car is
the leader because of clean air.

Like Michael Waltrips two wins of the Daytona 500 people keep saying
he does not deserve them because he was in one of the fastest cars at
the time. Now people are saying the opposite. You do not deserve the
win unless you have the fastest car . ... You cannot have it both
ways. Any win or top three is deserved the matter how you get it.

Earned, pretty much. The 88 team chose not to gamble on fuel and
had pitted later than the leaders, so Earhardt had plenty of fuel.
He also had the high line working well for him, and was just
rocketting around the top while all the leaders were pedalling to
save gas. Earnhardt made up some positions by being fast, and
some by the guys ahead having fuel issues.

I'd credit the pit stop more than Junior, though..
The win was earned, but by good pit work, and not by great driving.
I'd have to give more credit to Vickers for saving fuel..
He did more to 'earn' his finish, than say, Junebug...

Don't get me wrong, Junebug's finish was a whole lot more 'earned'
than being the 15th place car, staying out, rain, and then the race never
starting again..

But while I was/still am critcal of Vickers a day earlier, I can't argue
about how he won Sunday.
