Anyone find it hypocritical that Nascar wants to limit owners to 4

faster than cars in the top 35?

Guaranteeing starting positions in any fashion is ridiculous.

Have you all forgotten the simple fact that NASCAR in the top level is
first and foremost an entertainment business? They will make the most
money not only for themselves but the drivers, owners and sponsers by
featuring the best they have to offer. It's no different than the
Movie and Television industry who also try to use the best and most
popular actors whenever possible.

Hypocritical? Probably, but still the best entertainment they can
provide for the fans.

At what point does it cease to be a sport and become pure entertainment
like
the WWE?

Believe it or not, professional wrestling was real at one time, many
decades
ago.May 1, 1987

Unfortunately, that train has left the station. I think you are right
about May 1987 when Bill Elliott set the, still standing, speed record
of 212.809 when qualifying for the pole at the May 1987 Talladega race.
That is when the micro-managing by NASCAR started IMHO.

The other issue is to have drivers who are running a full schedule and
trying to win a championship over a Driver who is only there for the Daytona
500. Hard to overcome the points lost if you don't make the race.

Fastest 43, NO provisionals. You ain't fast enough, you go home. No
exceptions, no matter who you are.

Unfortunately, this is a truth that many of us dinosaurs have bemoaned for
several years now. NASCAR is all about the show now and the race has been
relegated to the history books.

You aren't assuming that Nascar is actually limiting team size for the
reason that they stated in public, are you?
I don't like Roush, but they are only doing it to f*ck him.

Nascar didn't like the concept of one person owning half of the ten teams
in
the fix, err, chase.

I agree, although I have also heard speculation that it was done to prevent
Toyota from coming in and owning a bunch of teams as well.

That won't stop 'em if they want to control several teams. $$ talks and
if they supply engines and manufacturer subsidies, they can do pretty
much anything they want.
