well, here we are - nascar's contemptable comments,
via mike helton, about what they think of their
southern roots - just one more nail in the coffin
they are building for themselves...

Depends on one's definition of "redneck."

NA$Cball is all about the Benjamins. They want to attract people who have
no qualms about blowing $1K on a race.

It appears from the article that the term "redneck" is being equated to
white southerners that not interested in diversity.

Folks down Suth are just quicker to talk about it - we are Republican
states down here. Northerners are all smacked down by left-wing Democrat
ACLU lawsuits so often that they are afraid to acknowlege that there is even
more than one race on this planet. Look at RASN - half of us live up
North. How many Black folks are on RASN? How many White RASN folks are
married to Black, Oriental, or Hispanic women (or men)? Now even though
we are all married to Whites; as soon as we say "I would never even
consider dating a Black, let alone marrying one" we are labeled white-hood
wearing KKK racists. Go figure.

The real test of your redneckese though comes with, do you like your BBQ
"chopped" or "pulled"? ;-) (he says, patting his tummy that is still full of
BBQ from the lunch buffet at the local BBQ & fish house...umm, with some
hushpuppies and sweet tea too LOL!)

What difference does it make? If I can't get either ... why bother to draw the
fine lines?

(and what happened to the "sir" respect? gloating doesn't suit you, sim!)

man, fried catfish ...

... bite me! $

Coz I wuz born here, and pulled pig *almost* borders on yankeeism. ;-) It's
chopped for me, or I move on to the next buffet station....spicey, vinegary,
makes no matter, it just has to be chopped. And if in a sammy, it has to be
dressed with slaw. There are no substitutes...

Hey, it's been a long week, and them 'puppies smelled good from the road. I
just had to, cause they wuz dressed like they wanted it, lol. And how did
you know I had catfish too? That *sir*, was scary good guess (they also had
flounder and whiting)...and my tea, you guessed it, was served to me in a
Mason Jar with a handle on it. Welcome to the South, is all I can say. ;-)

BBQ'd what? (*)

Aside from that, yeah, I figure so. Guy I used to work with lives
just a few miles south of the NY border (near Binghamton), and he
can pass for the better kind of redneck w/ no problem.

You don't have to like greens, btw. I detest 'em, all kinds.

John

(* if you answered anything but pork, you fail. A true southern
redneck knows BBQ means cooking a pig.)

I think the reason many folks detest greens is 'cause they know about what's
been in the dirt they is grown in...
