Default Nascar listens? - 11-04-2009 , 05:07 PM

(From nascar.com)

NASCAR honored with two awards for listening to fans

NASCAR's Fan Council has earned national acclaim by winning the
Forrester Groundswell Award in the Business-to-Consumer Listening
category as well as the Vision Critical 2009 Panel of the Year Award.

NASCAR introduced the Fan Council in 2008 to gain a better
understanding of its fan base.

In 2009, regular consultations with the council, an online community
of 12,000 avid fans, resulted in two important changes to the sport:
double-file restarts and earlier and consistent TV start times.

******

It seems to me that those "12,000 avid fans" should start harping on
taking the restrictor plate races out of the Chase. They're too much
of a crapshoot. Or how about taking the Chase out completely? Yeah,
like that will happen. And maybe add a road race, just so some other
avid fans can scream about something ;-)

Nancy, Nancy, Nancy,

The chase is here to stay... deal with it....

The chase is supposed to give the drivers a variety of tracks to race on,
not 1 particular type...saying that, why are all 3 of Bruton's cookie
cutter Tracks and Nascar's Kansas in the chase, that is 40% of the chase
on 1.5 mile tri/quad ovals.

I'd like to see the following tracks in the chase.

Pocono
Darlington
Rockingham
Any Road Course
Charlotte Texas OR Atlanta
Martinsville
Talladega
Vegas
Phoenix
Homestead

Those are a lot better mix of track styles than the current
configuration.

Good list, except for 'Dega. I don't think restrictor plate races
belong.

So NASCAR thinks only 12,000 (internet) fans out of approx. 75,000,000 (total NASCAR fan base
demographic)
supposedly represent what the all "fans" want?
That only represents about .0002% of the entire NASCAR fan base.
