Default NASCAR slammed by baseball - 03-08-2006 , 09:04 PM

The Dodgers sold out Opening Day in 15 minutes Saturday. That's
55,000-plus tickets, and just one of 81 home dates. California
Speedway couldn't sell its 92,000 grandstand seats for one of its
two Nextel Cup dates, the weekend before last.

Those numbers tell us baseball remains a huge attraction in this
market, and NASCAR remains a shaky one. One race, annually, at
Fontana would be plenty to cater to hard-core motor heads.

However, two dates in "Los Angeles" is so important to sponsors
and advertisers eager to get into the nation's second-biggest
market that Fontana is likely to keep its second race indefinitely.

NASCAR likes the idea of being able to fete corporate honchos in
the Fontana suites. Something it couldn't do at old ovals like
Rockingham, where Fontana's second race came from.

For those not keeping count, that's zero sellouts at Fontana in its
last five Nextel Cup races going back to 2004. While the Dodgers
and Angels are selling 3 million tickets each. Per season.

Do you ever actually read this group, or do you just come here to post
entire articles with no comment from yourself, when just a link would do?

Cru already posted this over 7 hours before you. And he included his
personal thoughts as well. But since you haven't had an original thought
since the first day you posted to this group, It makes sense that you
wouldn't have any now either.

I have $1 says you must be talking to Janal. You are one of only 3 people
in this group that don't have him killfiled. He made my killfile when he
reported how he solved the Space Shuttle disaster 30 minutes after it
happened.

Yer $1 is correct.

He hardly posts any more. Certainly nothing like he was a couple years ago
when he had to argue with everybody about everything.

He is laying low because a few people on Usenet complained to his magazine
editor. He figured it was time to shut the fuck up and just be glad he had
a job. The shock is that this idiot editor doesn't seem to care that Janal
has never been to a NA$Cball race in his life. Must be a shitty magazine.
