Default Nascar takes over CASCAR! Finally - 09-12-2006 , 02:22 PM

They just made the announcement, this could be huge for Stockcar racing in
Canada! They only have about 12 races a year now but that could easily go
to 16. Hard to do more than that unless they were willing to race twice a
week(weather issues). That would be possible in some situations. Nascar is
viewed in Canada as the top level of racing and to be associated with the
Nascar name is going to bring in a LOT of sponsors. We could be seeing
Canadian drivers in Cup in a few years! What do you Amercans think of
Nascar's moves into Canada? Good thing, Bad thing, Neutral, Trivial?
Should Canada get more Busch Series races?

I'd like to see some cup races in Canada. NASCAR has a large following in
Canada and the more races that can be moved out of the southeast the better
for the sport.

I'm neutral. Don't care where they race really as long as the competition is
good.

I'm just curious as to where the dates would come from. Not many double
dates left here in the US to draw from that NASCAR seems ready to futz with
at this point - as far as NASCAR racing goes. Can't comment on CASCAR
schedules, I've only seen a few races on the tube, tape delayed, usually
months later. The racing seems good, I'd hope it could grow for you all
North of the border. The problem is now, that NASCAR *is* involved. IMO,
that has become a double edged sword...lol

I'd assume they'd steal existing races from the American schedule. Any race
that's not drawing well could very well be ripe for the picking.
Competition for the Busch races is a good thing it will force promoters to
upgrade tracks, do more promotions of events and give fans better value for
their money. The other possibility is the truck series. I wondering now if
Nascar's takeover of Cascar will result in Americans running in the series
as a sort of back door way into Nascar proper? It would seem to make sense,
it would be cheaper, a lot of coverage-(big fish small pond syndrome), the
Nascar name.

very good. for years i've been watching frost backs racing in new england.
it can only benefit them having some decent races at home.
sanair can use more money for an upgrade, it is a nice trip up to there.

I know for a fact that the current "Cayuga Speedway" is under
construction and the owners are making it "Nascar ready". I also know
that Nascar officials have visited the track as recently as Sept 3rd
weekend. Previously they we talking trucks during their visit, but the
new owners with money in hand are hoping for Busch at the least.

Wow thats a nice looking facility and if the expansion takes place a Busch
race would seem to be a given. I could see a situation where they could
have a Nascar Canada race on Saturday and a Busch race on Sunday similar to
the Busch/Cup setup. Jayski is reporting that the expansion will take the
track to 60,000 fans! They'd sell every ticket in minutes. I doubt they'd
ever get a cup race though, it would mean adding another race and they
already race almost ever weekend, although I suppose they could add another
week to schedule but I believe it's already the longest season of any pro
sport.

I agree that Cup seems like a stretch, but you have to start somewhere
and down the road I guess you never know... especially when it comes to
Nascar.

Chill None40! I'm sure if i were a Canuck i'd be overjoyed too with
NA$CAr finally recognizing there is racing in Canada.
But y'all way up North gotta take it easy. Cup will get there,
Busch most likely will be there next year, but y'all need to be satisfied
for the short term that there will be good racin in Canada in '07.
Go to as many races as u can, even if it means hitchin up the dogsled, eh?
